Working for the Weekend

The girls have settle into a routine at work. Abby usually plays for an hour or so and then goes down for a nap. Anne has begun to use her imagination and plays with her dolls and animals. I love hearing her make them talk.

Check out the evil eye

This routine means I cam consistently get things done. Albeit, there are still those days when I want to pull my hair out and I can't imagine what possessed me to bring an infant and toddler to work. We are thankful to have such a flexible boss and patient co workers.

Baby Bath

It takes many hands to bath a baby. Scott and I ran a few errands on Sunday evening and when we came back Gra'ma and Papa were giving Abby a bath. I have to admit that Abby hasn't received as many baths as Anne did as a baby, but she hasn't seemed to mind.

Gra'ma claims there was ring around the sink when they finished bathing her because she was so dirty, but Gra'ma has been know to exaggerate occasionally. After her bath she was greased up with baby lotion and smelled wonderful. This bath should last her until September (j/k).
She loves the water and would stay in the bath or pool all day if we let her.

Story Time

Every Wednesday Anne goes to the library for Story Time. My mother used to take Chad and I and now Anne is following in our footsteps.

Bird House

Anne's sweet friend Claire gave her a birdhouse kit for her birthday. This past weekend Scott and Anne assembled, painted, and hung the house.

You can probably see from the previous post and this one that Anne does a lot of activities in her pjs.

It was their first father daughter project. I think it was a success. Now, we just have to wait for the birds to move into this modern masterpiece.

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Here goes, my first "Not Me" post.

I did not put off giving Abby a bath until Sunday when my parents finally did it themselves.

I did not tell Anne she could just go number one in the pool. I mean that's gross!

I did not miss my shower two days in a row and just use a clippy to hold my greasy bangs back.

That's it for now. I don't think I can handle anymore veiled confessions at present.

Cooking

Anne has been learning the fine art of cooking from an expert chef. Who is that chef you ask? Well, it is Gra'ma. She patiently teaches Anne almost every evening. So far, Anne has made salad, mashed potatoes, and stirred all sorts of things. I learned all I know about cooking from my mom.

I am thankful for the skills she imparted to me and for the time she spent teaching me. My mother cooked every week night for as long as I can remember. She would come home form teaching school all day, change her clothes, and go straight to the kitchen to make dinner. She prepared meals to try to please everyone and never lost her temper when a certain little girl would announce her dislike of the proffered dinner.
I never realized what kind of discipline and love it took to cook dinner day in and day out, sometimes with little appreciation from her family, until I became a mom. I am so thankful for what my mom did for our family and hope I can follow in her footsteps.

"Leeking" Logs

Anne recently discovered Lincoln Logs aka "leeking" logs. She found the old set that belong to Chad and Gra'ma snap up a whole tub full at a garage sale. She can build a house on her own, but her favorite thing to do is launch the smaller pieces into the air with little concern for what or who they hit. I love playing, too!

Abby spends her time taste testing the logs. It's been fun reliving parts of my childhood with the girls.

Kema and a Wedding

This weekend Scott, the girls, and I all traveled down to Houston for a wedding. We left after lunch on Friday and arrived around 5:30pm. We arrived early and went down to the Kema Boardwalk so Anne could see the boats, ride the carousel, and we could eat dinner. The weather was nice. A rain storm had just come through creating a nice breeze and more merciful temperatures. We ate dinner at Saltgrass and sat right beside the window. Anne was thrilled to watch the roller coaster come by every few minutes, but had little desire to actually ride it. After dinner we walk down to the water and watched the boats going in and out. Anne was sure that they were all priate ships!

Anne and Dad on the look out for pirate ships.

After Kema we headed back to the hotel to meet up with our college friends for a evening of reminising. It didn't last as long as usual because almost all of us either have kids or are expecting. We all called it a night at around 10:30pm.

I had a pesimistic view of how our night would go with all the family in one hotel room, but thankfully everyone slept fairly well!

The next morning we woke up, ate brekfeast, and made a quick trip to Target (Daddy's Store.) When all our errands had been run we doned our bathing suits and headed out to the pool. Anne demonstrated her swimming abilities for Daddy and Abby splashed in Mommy's arms.

When we were dried and dresses it was off to Chili's to meet Gran for lunch. She took the girls back to her house while we went to Mikey and Marisella's wedding. The wedding was very and nice and at the reception there was a live Mariachi Band.

After the wedding we drove back to Conroe and slept at Gran and Grandpa's with the girls. It was short visit, but we enjoyed the time we had with our family. A big thanks to Gran and Grandpa for watching the girls and now we are back in Tyler resting up for our next event.
