Christmas 2012

We celebrated Christmas for the first time at our home.
It was sad not to go the Great Granny's house and say good bye to a life long tradition.
Thankfully, Great Granny and Great Grandma came to us and we had a very merry Christmas!

Christmas Morning

 Anne's loot from Santa

 Abby's loot from Santa

We distributed all the presents and set to work unwrapping.

 Intermission: Breakfast

 and back to presents!

 Notice Gra'ma's Johnny Football Jersey
and
the Aggie goody basket
from
Chuck and Sandie.
Some of us enjoyed the "Brave" wig from Papa and Gra'ma more than others.

 Christmas Lunch

Daddy, Anne, and Abby enjoyed playing Angry Birds.
I think the girls managed to take almost all their gifts out of the packaging that day.
They couldn't believe I would let them open them all at once.
It was a fabulous Christmas and I can't wait until nest year!

Papa's Birthday 2012

Happy 36th or 63rd birthday Papa!

Gra'ma cooked a delicious lunch of fried chicken, Papa's favorite, and all the fix-ins along with a fabulous banana split cake.
Our tummies were very happy.

Birthday Poem 2012:
“The Secret”
by Linda Smith (aka Gra'ma)

Oh what’s that you say?  You just can’t see.

How Fletcher Smith can be sixty-three.

His step is so lively, there’s rarely a frown,

His eyes still twinkle and his hair ’s  mostly brown.

What’s his secret of youth?  You’re dying to know.

Where can you purchase some of his glow?

The answer is simple, it’s the obvious reason.

Our Aggies!  They’re ten and two this season.

Johnny Football has been so incredibly great.

He made Fletcher feel like he’s twenty-eight.

After watching the Bama game again and again,

It was as though the clock hands didn’t even spin,

So….if next year the Aggies get an even bigger win,

Just think how young Fletcher will look to us then.

Polar Express with the Johnson Family 2012

A little birdy called Saturday and told the girls to check the mailbox.

This is what they found.

Two tickets for the Polar Express.

They dressed in their pj's and headed over to the Johnson's home.

Ashley took their tickets and the fun began for all.

Lauren watched the girls open their gifts.

Ash prepared snacks, and together they made popcorn on the stove, brownies, watched a movie, played hide and go seek, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves!
(Scott and I went to see the Hobbit)
They can't wait until next year!

Thanksgiving 2012

Mom and I played paper, rock, scissors to decide who would do Thanksgiving dinner and who would do Christmas dinner.
She got Thanksgiving.
The Luhrs were in charge of green bean casserole and pumpkin pie.
I have never made a pumpkin pie before, but with a little help from the girls we did it!

The pie took forever to cook so we had A LOT of downtime.

The pie.

It turned out the reason why it took so long to cook the pie was because I didn't realize there were two frozen pie crust in the package and I just poured the pumpkin pie mixture into the top and cook it with the second crust still on the bottom. It turned out ok because I really like pie crust.

Daddy made it home from work and he was ready to eat :)

The whole Gang minus me.
I was taking the picture.

Mom and I topped off the night with a little Black Thursday shopping with four hundred other people at Target.

Johnny Football

Abby LOVES Johnny!
Aunt Ashley brought this shirt for Abby when we met she and Uncle Mark at the last football game.
I couldn't wait for Abs to wear it.
We waited until Wednesday for  Bible Study Fellowship and evening church so she could get major visibility.
Climbing in the car that morning Abby said, "Call me Johnny and Anne can be Mike (Mike Evans)."
So we spent the rest of the day with our own Johnny football.

Photoshoot

I thought I would try out my "new" camera
and snap some pictures of the girls playing in the back yard.
I was inspired by my sweet friend Ashley and all her "photo shoots" of Anna Katherine.
I think its easier to do when your subject is immobile.
I tried sitting on the girls to keep them still, but the girls didn't seem to enjoy it.
