Bedtime

Bounce Chair and Swimming Lessons

Abby loves her bouncy chair! It hangs in Papa's office doorway, the only available doorway in at work. Anne helps Abby get things moving with a few "nice" pushes. I have to remind Anne to be gentle, thankfully Abby doesn't seem to mind the jarring effects of Anne's help.



We have been busy around here trying to keep the house clean for showings, swimming lessons, and work. Anne has started summer school and goes Tuesdays and Thursdays. She was so excited to see her "school friends" and Ms. Teresa. I am busy planning Anne's b-day party. How do you have a non-chaotic party with three year old? I thinking it will be short and sweet.


This week Anne has been taking swimming lessons from Ms. Debbie. I took swimming lesson's from Ms. Debbie's mother, Ms. Jane, when I was a little kid. Ms. Debbie is famous in Tyler for being able to teach your child to swim in a week. The first day Anne screamed for me the entire time. My heart ached to hear her pleas. I kept the calm mommy face on and encouraged her as best I could. I was really dreading having to bring her back on Tuesday, but things went much better. We came armed with passy and blanky and I promised her we could get a ice cream cone after lessons if she was brave. Well, she certainly suprised me when she ran straight to Ms. Debbie and gave her a big hug and walked over to the pool. She only cryed a little bit this time. She did how ever announce that she needed to go number one. I didn't want her to get out of the pool because I thought it might be a ploy to get out of swimming lessons early. So, when she asked if she could go in the pool I shook my head yes. I didn't want to verbalize it beacuse there were other people around, but that precaution wasn't nessasary because when I gave the affirmative Anne yelled out, "I CAN GO TO THE POTTY IN THE POOL!" We have day three of swimming lessons today. I hope all goes well.

They played in the lake, built sandcastles in the volleyball pit, and ran up and down the dock.

Happy Birthday Gra'ma!

We celebrated Gra'ma's birthday at the Purple Pig on Saturday. It was delicious!


After eating dinner we went back to the house ate cake and ice cream, opened presents, and did a little slip-n-sliding. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to take any pics of the slip-n-sliding since I was the main participant. I had to show Anne how it worked. I have been sore for a few days now.

Work

Here's a few pics from work last week. Anne's found the "Love Me Not" flowers behind the shop and insisted that we pick a few.

Talking

Abigail has begun to let her feelings be know in other ways than crying. I can't remember Anne being as vocal as Abby has been. I tried to catch her babbiling a little bit on the video, but ti doesn't do justice to her recent verbalizing. She will sit in her Bumbo seat and "chat" for 20 minutes.

The Three Little Farmers

Lately, Anne has asked for Scott and I to tell her stories. We have started with The Three Little Pigs and the Three Bears. Anne loves to tell the stories as well and puts her own spin on them, hence, the Three Little Farmers.

Abigail Goes Swimming

We took Abby to the pool for the first time on Tuesday. She loved the water and enjoyed sitting in Mommy's lap and dangling her feet in the water. Her swimsuit is a hand me down from Anne. Abby tired out after about 45 minutes and spent the rest of her time napping in her car seat.

Faulkner Park

Saturday evening after dinner. We all went for a nature walk at Faulkner Park. Anne found lots of sticks and rocks. We didn't see the mountain lion that the local news has been reporting on. I don't think there was wildlife within a hundred miles of us. We definitely made our presence know.

Fast Forward Through the Zoo

Last Wednesday we went on our MOPS outing to the zoo. We have been to the zoo a few time this year so Anne wasn't as interested in the animals this time. We went through the entire zoo at a break neck pace and finished before all her friends. The pace made it hard to snap any pics of the animals. That's why most of the snap shots are of Anne running ahead and Abby and I trying to keep up.
