Abby ran her first race. She had a rocky start after being bulldozed at the starting gate by an older girl, but with daddy's help she finished the race.
There were lots of fun activities for kids.
"The nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string." - Anne of Avonlea

Snow Day
We had a freak ice storm last Sunday. The girls enjoyed playing in the precipitation and days off school. The chickens refused to come out of their coop for three days. We had Papa and Gra'ma along with the DuToits over for dinner, s'mores, and bananagrams.

The British are Coming!
Abby followed in Anne's foot steps today. She to dressed as Paul Revere for Famous American Day at preschool. It helped that we already had the costume.

Tye Dye
Aunt Ashley and Uncle Mark gave the girls a tye dye kit for Christmas and it was awesome. The girls were able to do a lot on their own and the shirts turned out great. They both wore them to school the next week.

Our Spelling Queen Bee
Anne qualified as an alternate on her school's 2nd grade spelling bee team early in the fall.
I'll have to admit we didn't practice very much since Anne was an alternate. Two kids had to drop out before she could actually compete in the County Bee. January 23rd came around, two days before the Bee, Anne announced at dinner that two kids had dropped out and she would be competing. I kind of panicked, but I had no need to worry. She did great, placing fourth overall.
She did not get those spelling genes from me!
