Abby's First Birthday

We celebrated Abby's first birthday this evening. Things went well. Abby soaked up all the attention and was pleasant for most of the evening.
Birthday parties might become a daily activity. Abigail's first birthday was a little less grand than Anne's, but I don't think she minded. Plus, my mother said I could not invite sixty people to her house for a birthday party Abby would not remember. Oh well, I always have next year.

I did manage to create the blog phenomenon know as the Rainbow Cake. It took a little time and the cake did begin to lean, but all in all it was a success! Thank you to our sweet family and friends for all their kind thoughts and birthday presents.

We spent a wonderful new Year's weekend at Gran and Grandpa's in Conroe. Anne and Abby opened more gifts and played and played. Uncle John and Nancy came down from the frozen north for a little Texas cheer and Grandma Regan joined in the fun as well.

The Zoo with the Garreds

Thursday was a wonderful day. The weather was in the 70's so Gra'ma and I decided it was a perfect day for the zoo. I called the Garreds and they agreed to join us for the outing. The "little Garreds" are Anne's favorite friends.

She talks about them all the time, but usually always refers to them in group form, "the little Garreds," there are four in all. When she does use there given names she gets Ginger and Hayden mixed up. Calling Ginger, a girl, Hayden, and Hayden, a boy, Ginger, but thankfully they are good sports about it, only ocassionly offended.

It's Snowing in Texas, sort of . . .

We took Anne and Abby to the park to experience a little snow Texas style. After waiting a bit for the snow crew to put a few finishing touches on everything it was time to slide. I thought Anne would be afraid to go down the snow slide, but she took right to it and wanted to go down several times. We had to practice not cutting and waiting in line.

After the snow slide we went into the snowball park. I enjoyed maybe two minutes of that because after I made my first snowball my hands turned red and I could barely move my fingers. it never occurred to me that I should have worn gloves or that I should have given Anne her gloves as well. Needless to say, the snow slide was a bigger hit than the snowballs.
